Sam Deinek grew up right here in South Lyon Michigan, where she attended and played volleyball at South Lyon East High School earning All-Conference honors in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Sam totaled 844 kills, 597 digs, 128 blocks and 116 aces in her High School career, and helped South Lyon East win the Lakes Valley Conference in 2019 and 2020. She also set the school record for kills in a match and in a season, was a four-time honor roll student, and was named to the Academic All-State team in 2020.
Sam Attended Gannon University where she played as an OH. In her 2023 season, Sam was named PSAC Champion Scholar as the student-athlete with the highest GPA among the teams in the PSAC Tournament. In 2022 Sam appeared in 35 matches, leading the team with 409 kills. She also led Gannon in 2022 with at least 10 kills in 24 matches. Sam hit .300 or better in 11 matches and hit .400 or better in 5 matches. She had a career-high 21 kills in Gannon’s five-set win over Clarion in the PSAC Championship match while hitting .388. She then matched that career high with 21 kills in four-set win over Clarion in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional championship match. Sam finished the Atlantic Regional with 48 kills while making the All-Tournament Team and the CSC Academic All-District Team.
During the summers, Sam has helped at Dynamite camps and tryouts. Now that she has completed her collegiate career, Sam is excited to join the Dynamite Coaching Staff!
